Weekly Summer Events for the Whole Family

Rehoboth Beach is the perfect place to relax on the beach and explore new culinary creations. But for families vacationing here with young children, there are also lots of interactive activities to participate in all summer long! If your children are always on the go, The Boardwalk, Jungle Jim’s and Midway Speedway Park are all great places to spend the afternoon, as are these reoccurring family-friendly activities:

Shows at Rehoboth Children’s Theatre

For 35 year straight the Rehoboth Children’s Theatre has brought laughter and fun to their stage every summer! This season’s lineup includes three classic children’s tales: Puss in Boots, The Wizard of Oz and The Emperor’s New Clothes.

Two-actor plays are put on every Tuesday at 7 p.m. and every Wednesday at 11 a.m. There will also be Thursday morning shows during the month of August. Click here to check out the whole schedule; tickets are only $10 each.

Monday Night Movies on the Beach

Pack up your beach chairs and blankets!  Located just a few minutes from Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach is home to family-friendly Monday Night movies. Where Dagsworthy Street meets the beach, the free movie showing starts every Monday night of the summer around 8:30 p.m.

Dinner at Food Truck Thursday

Whether your children love to try fun new foods or are happy with a hotdog or hamburger, there is sure to be a food truck they will love at Food Truck Thursday.

Epworth United Methodist Church will be hosting this flavorful evening event every second and fourth Thursday in July and August. With more than ten options to choose from, every member of your family will be able to enjoy their favorite dish for dinner. If your children save room, there are even dessert trucks like SnoYo Frozen Yogurt you can sample from!

Adventures at Cape Henlopen State Park

With a full schedule of programs during July and August, Cape Henlopen State Park has five or six family-friendly activities to choose from every Tuesday through Saturday! Whether your children would like to learn more about dolphins, tide pools or World War II history, there is a tour you can sign up for.

Events are listed here and you can reserve your spot by calling the State Park at 302-645-6852. Most program fees cost $2 to $5; kayak and boat tours cost $22 to $25.
