Do you and your family enjoy spending afternoons along the Rehoboth Beach shoreline, splashing in the waves and searching for shards of brightly colored sea glass? Found in coastal waters all over the world, sea glass may just be the remains of bottles that were tossed in the water, but it is absolutely beautiful.
And for sea glass lovers, there is no June event quite as wonderful as the Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival.
Hosted just a short drive away from Beach View Hotel at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal, this year’s festival will feature more than 70 sea glass artists and an array of other coastal artisans. Even bigger than last year’s event, there are expected to be more than 4,000 visitors.
The perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the coastal Delaware culture, spend your Saturday afternoon browsing one-of-a-kind decorative pieces and enjoying some delicious area food.
This year’s Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival will take place on Saturday, June 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, June 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We recommend spending some time collecting sea glass on our beaches before the festivities begin, as sea glass specialist Keith Fleming will be on site all day Sunday to identify the treasures you have discovered!
Bring the whole family and enjoy an afternoon celebrating the beauty that is coastal living. Adult tickets cost $5 each and children under the age of 12 are free. For more information, contact The Lewes Historical Society at 302-645-7670.
Once you’ve made your plans for this June weekend, all that’s left to do is pack up your beach gear and book your stay at Beach View Hotel. We look forward to kicking off the summer season with you!
