Beach View Hotel may not be opening its doors until March, but now is the time to start thinking about all of the exciting events taking place this upcoming spring!
Unfamiliar with the festival? That’s okay; the most important thing that you need to know is that it’s never truly springtime in Lewes, DE until this event comes rolling around.
For those who are unaware, Lewes was actually founded by the Dutch and was the site of the first European settlement in Delaware. As it was actually the Dutch who brought tulips to America, those who live in the city today use the festival to celebrate their ancestors’ heritage and the contribution they made so many years ago. Plus, it gives everyone an excuse to admire these gorgeous flowers and purchase a few bulbs for themselves!
As you walk throughout the downtown area, you’ll be in awe at the sight of over 10,000 tulips blooming at every corner. To make sure that you don’t miss any planting locations, be sure to grab a Tiptoe to the Tulips map, which will also highlight some of Lewes’ most historical landmarks as well. If you prefer not to walk, no problem!
A small $10 fee will get you a spot aboard the Tulip Trolley Tour. Just be sure to make your reservation by calling the Lewes Chamber of Commerce at 877-465-3937.
The scenery is just one perk, however! The Tulip Festival will also feature a photo and quilt exhibitions, and plenty of great events and activities at Zwaanendael Park. Also, as all of the fun will be taking place in the downtown Lewes area, you will have plenty of opportunities to stop into any one of the amazing boutiques or restaurants throughout town!
Just talking about it is making us so excited for spring to arrive! Book your stay with Beach View Hotel today to ensure that you can enjoy all that the season has to offer right out the gate. We hope to see you soon!
