When it comes to celebratory events in Rehoboth Beach, there are none that surpass the annual Sea Witch Festival in terms of excitement and fun. Hosted every October for the past 27 years, this festival brings visitors back to participate in the Halloween-themed activities year after year. Family-friendly activities continue day-in and day-out, beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing on after the sun sets.
There are an almost endless number of activities that you and your family can participate in, and we at Beach View Hotel have listed just a few of our favorites to inspire your excitement for the event.
To kick off the Sea Witch Festival weekend right, the Jolly Trolley will be driving around town teaching passengers the ins and outs of Rehoboth beach history. There will be tours at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., and reservations can be made by calling 302-227-7310. If this is an event you are interested in participating in, don’t hesitate to sign up – the trolley will be busy shuttling visitors to local destinations throughout the rest of the weekend!
Head over to Indian River Life-Saving Station at 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday or Sunday for an educational and exciting hike along the shore. Park interpreters will share spooky stories, re-telling tales of shipwrecks and pirate adventures that occurred years ago. Tickets cost $6 per person and you can register by calling 302-227-6991.
Hosted on Friday, October 28, the Not-So-Spooky Scavenger Hunt takes place from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Rehoboth Beach Museum. Your children will love the opportunity to explore the unique area exhibits while hunting for the items on their scavenger list. While you wait for them to finish, we recommend parents check out the museum’s special Sea Witch Festival exhibit, featuring photos and memorabilia from years past.
Get the whole family dressed up and parade on over to Rehoboth Avenue to participate in (or watch) the annual Sea Witch Festival Costume Parade on Saturday, October 29. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the parade itself starts just after 11 a.m. You and your children will love seeing all the brightly colored floats and spooktacular costume choices.
Spend an hour of your Saturday night exploring the shops of Downtown Rehoboth as they pass out Halloween candy to your little ones. Trick or Treating with Merchants takes place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and is the perfect way for families to safely enjoy some sweet treats and Halloween themed surprises.
Face painting, hay rides, live music and more will be happening right on the beach all weekend long. For more information and a complete listing of activities, click here.
